A Case Study on Cost Reduction via Under-Body Coating Robot Motion Optimization

Zhiwei Huang*, Deming Xu, Liujuan Cheng, Chenjun Wang

Abstract

UBC robot optimization eliminated 7.15M investment for C-segment sedan launch. QC identified slow speed (600mm/s), excess
trajectory (1.6m), and poor sequencing. Countermeasures: speed to 800mm/s, 60-segment reduction, 12-location re sequencing. Efficiency
rose 37%?42.3%, saving 200, 000 kWh annually and reducing prep time 25%.
