Effect of Hexamine Concentration on Cu/Mn3O4 Co-deposition

Abstract


Composite coatings consisting of Cu matrix and Mn3O4 particles were fabricated on the SUS 430 steel by electrolytic co-deposition
method in alkaline copper pyrophosphate bath with co-deposition promoter (hexamine). The surface characteristics of the coatings were
evaluated by Raman spectra in the absence and presence of hexamine. The mass fraction of co-deposited Mn3O4 particles was determined by
the analysis of atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS), and it reached a maximum value (4 .34 wt%) at hexamine concentration of 10 gL-1.
The effect of hexamine concentration on zeta potentials of Mn3O4 particles in the electrolytic bath was also investigated. It was found that zeta
potentials of Mn3O4 particles became more negative after adding hexamine to the bath and the absolute value of zeta potential was highest at
hexamine concentration of 10 gL-1.
