AI-Optimized "Insurance + Futures" Tropical Agricultural Industry Safeguard Mechanism in Hainan

Runli Yang

Abstract

The tropical agriculture in Hainan, benefiting from its unique natural conditions, has become a major economic pillar and income
source for local smallholders. However, tropical agricultural products are vulnerable to natural disasters and market fluctuations, and thus lack
resilience. "Insurance + Futures", as an innovative financial instrument for tropical agricultural risk management, faces practical challenges including low product-target compatibility, lagging risk assessment indicators, and inefficient claim settlement processes. AI, with its features of
data integration, intelligent analysis and rapid response, can effectively address the pain points in the traditional "Insurance + Futures" mechanism, transforming the protection method from "post-event remediation" to "pre-event prevention". This paper, based on the current status of
tropical agriculture in Hainan, studies how to leverage AI to improve "Insurance + Futures" mechanism, streamline protection procedures and
enhance coverage accuracy, make financial services align more with the needs of smallholders and agricultural producers, and promote the
high-quality development of tropical agriculture in Hainan.
