Abstract

Alpinia oxyphylla Miq. serves as one of the four major South China medicinal plants. It has a long history of medicinal use and its
antioxidant capacity is an important pharmacological active substance of Alpinia oxyphylla Miq. The synthesis and accumulation of secondary
metabolites of Alpinia oxyphylla Miq. are highly influenced by the ecological environment of the planting areas. Due to disparities in climate,
soil, altitude, and planting methods among different planting regions, there are significant variations in the types and proportions of the main
active phytochemicals such as volatile oil, flavonoids, and sesquiterpenes in Alpinia oxyphylla Miq. This study comprehensively summarizes
the main phytochemical variations of Alpinia oxyphylla Miq. across geographical origins, deeply explores the relationship and synergy mechanism between various active phytochemicals and antioxidant capacity, and establishes the interrelationship rules among geographical origins,
phytochemicals, and antioxidant activity, aiming to provide systematic theoretical support for authenticity verification of Alpinia oxyphylla cultivars, quality grading hierarchy of medicinal materials, standardized cultivation protocols, and in-depth development and utilization strategies.
