The Challenges and Pathways for Developing Age-Friendly Digital Public Services

Hui Yu

Abstract

The integration of digitalization with public services, a fundamental aspect of social security, has become an evolving trend. However, the provision of digital public services in China has resulted in challenges for some elderly populations, leading to disadaptation. The
ensuing social issues not only hinder the development of digital public services but also negatively impact social equity. The various dilemmas
faced in adapting digital public services for the elderly require comprehensive efforts to enhance service quality, empower the elderly both
externally and internally by improving their digital social support, self-efficacy, actively safeguard their digital rights, awareness through policies and legislation. Only through these measures can reach the goal of creating age-friendly digital public services in China.
