The Development of English Curriculum Standards over the Last 40 Years

Abstract


Curriculum standard, as we know, represents a benchmark and description, including what they should know and be able to do, on
students performance after a period of study. And it also provides an evidence on reflecting the expectation of the country on student performance. Since curriculum standard undeniably exerts an influence on instruction and student performance, the significance of research focusing
on curriculum standard is self-evident. In order to enhance the ability of instruction, it is necessary to delve the development of English standard curriculum over the past 40 years from six aspects, so as to conclude useful experience and to lead the development of teachers.
