A Study on the Stance of the Translator of: The Governance of China ? from the Perspective of Sociolinguistics

Abstract


The issue of stance has long been paid attention by sociolinguists. Based on Du Boiss concept of stance in the sociolinguistic perspective, this thesis will classify the meaning of the original text into cognitive stance meaning and interpersonal stance meaning, and examine
the change of the translators stance.
In this thesis, the translators of the central documents are the foreign communicators of the national discourse. The linguistic choices of the
translations represent the stance of the Party and the State. Whats more, the translators stance in the sociolinguistic field lays a foundation for
us to decipher the stance of the translators of the translations of the central documents.
