Ziyi Qiu, Shiqi Wang

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between gratitude, sense of meaning in life, and psychological health
among newly employed individuals, and to test the mediating role of the sense of meaning in life. A convenience sampling method was
employed, utilizing the Gratitude Questionnaire, the Meaning in Life Questionnaire, and the Symptom Checklist-90-Revised to survey 316
newly employed individuals. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS software. The results indicated that: ? Gratitude was positively correlated with the sense of meaning in life (P < 0.05); gratitude was negatively correlated with the Symptom Checklist-90-Revised scores (P <
0.001); and the sense of meaning in life was negatively correlated with the Symptom Checklist-90-Revised scores (P < 0.001). ? Gratitude
could directly predict Symptom Checklist-90-Revised scores (? = -0.233, P < 0.001), and it could also indirectly predict Symptom Checklist-
90-Revised scores through the sense of meaning in life (? = -0.192, P < 0.001). Conclusion: The level of gratitude not only directly affects
psychological health but also indirectly influences the psychological health of newly employed individuals through the sense of meaning in
life. Enhancing the levels of gratitude and the experience of meaning in life among newly employed individuals can contribute to improving
their psychological health levels.
