The Impact of Gender on Chinese College Students Course Selection Preferences from the Perspective of Maslows Hierarchy of Needs
Abstract
college students course selection preferences through the lens of Maslows hierarchy of needs, examining gender differences. Findings reveal
that male and female students exhibit distinct needs in course selection. Males primarily focus on final grades and credit requirements, while
females emphasize course evaluations and the impact of course scheduling on daily life, reflecting a more comprehensive concern for course
quality. Additionally, females place greater importance on the courses positive influence on personal growth and future career development
than males. This research highlights gender-specific value orientations and priorities in course selection decisions, providing insights for optimizing the elective system.
