Study on Antifreeze Performance and Suppression of Pool Fire with Water Mist Containing Antifreeze

Hongrui Li, Jian Chen, Kaoqi Li

Abstract

In order to study the physical and chemical properties of antifreeze for wet system, the freezing point and fire extinguishing tests
of antifreeze for wet system were carried out with different volume fractions of calcium chloride, magnesium chloride, propylene glycol and
ethylene glycol. The experimental results show that the freezing point of 26% calcium chloride solution is lower than -30? . The combination
of calcium chloride and ethylene glycol can reduce their solution concentration, and the freezing point is lower than -30? . The fire extinguishing efficiency of water mist containing 30% calcium chloride is higher than that of pure water. When 50% ethylene glycol is added to the
water mist, the flame will increase. The fire extinguishing effect of water mist containing 24% calcium chloride and ethylene glycol is similar
to that of pure water mist.
