Impact of Hospice-care on the Suffering Level of Advanced Cancer Patients: A Systematic Review

Shuolei Wang

Abstract

Hospice care emphasizes comfort and life quality for terminally ill patients, aiming to ease symptoms and distress for those nearing
the end of life. Research indicates that high-quality palliative care provided by compassionate nurses can reduce distress among late-stage cancer patients. This study investigates how the quality of palliative care impacts various types of distress (physical, emotional, and sociocultural)
in these patients. Through a systematic review of literature from databases like Ovid MEDICINE and Scopus, 339 articles were screened, and
40 relevant studies were analyzed. The findings are expected to guide nursing practices in enhancing palliative care to better alleviate patient
distress in terminally ill individuals.
