Exploring Development Paths for Hainans Agriculture and New Productive Forces after Typhoon Magi
Abstract
This paper analyzes the impact of Typhoon Magi on Hainans agriculture as a starting point to explore pathways for developing new productive forces in the agricultural sector. Using the Wenchang Fengjiawan Modern Fishery Industrial Park as a case study, it
identifies significant damages inflicted by Typhoon Magi on agriculture in Hainan, affecting crops, livestock, and fisheries, as well as
impoverished and vulnerable populations. The paper also highlights issues such as the fragility of traditional farming methods, weak infrastructure, and insufficient dissemination of agricultural technologies. The proposed development strategies include enhancing agricultural
innovation, promoting modern agricultural practices, optimizing the agricultural structure, improving infrastructure, cultivating new agricultural talent, and strengthening policy support. The success of the Fengjiawan Modern Fishery Industrial Park in mitigating losses during the typhoon demonstrates the benefits of unified planning, standardized management, smart monitoring, and effective preparation and
recovery efforts.
