Uncertainty Evaluation for determination of alumina Iron Oxide Content by ICP-OES

Xianghui Cang, Jin Wang

Abstract

The determination of iron oxide in alumina by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) is briefly introduced in this paper. The main sources of uncertainty in the measurement process are described, and the components of uncertainty are quantified. The confidence intervals of synthetic standard uncertainty and extended uncertainty and the measurement results are obtained. It is found
that measurement repeatability and working curve variability are the main factors causing uncertainty.
