Chasing Joy: Uncovering the Mystery of Older Chinese Adults Positive Self-Portrayal on TikTok

Abstract


This study aims to investigate how elderly individuals adapt to and utilize social media, focusing on their positive self-portrayal on
TikTok. The goal is to inform social media platforms on how to offer more targeted services for enhancing elderly users internet experience.
Method: The research employs grounded theory methodologies. Analysis: The study analyzed a sample group, including the Chengdu Mama
Group, through telephone interviews to examine their positive self-portrayal behaviors on TikTok. Results: A motivation-action-feedbackincentive cycle model was derived from the interviews.
