The Influence and Enlightenment of Machine Translation on Translation Major Students in the Context of Artificial Intelligence

Siyao Tan, Huilan Zhang

Abstract

The rapid advancement of AI has significantly improved machine translation, thus impacting translation students career paths.
While automation handles basic tasks, pushing students to learn post-editing and adapt to human-machine collaboration, it also highlights the
irreplaceable role of human translators in creative and culturally sensitive work. Additionally, AI creates new opportunities in localization and
multimodal translation, urging students to develop interdisciplinary and technical skills. This paper examines these dual impacts and offers
strategies for students to thrive in the evolving translation landscape.
