A Sociolinguistic Analysis of Identity Negotiation and Discourse Cooperation from the Perspective of Conversation Strategy -- A Case Study of the Avengers Series

Wenjie Zhang, Yuqi Liu

Abstract

This paper analyzes the interactions and relationships between characters in the film series The Avengers from the perspective of
conversational strategies. By examining dialogues within the films, it focuses on three conversational strategies that not only drive plot development but also reveal power dynamics and emotional conflicts among characters. The study suggests that precise language use by characters
not only advances the narrative but also deepens the audiences understanding of the characters and their relationships. Additionally, understanding Thomas. J. s interpretation of conversational strategies at the discourse level provides a new perspective for interpreting and analyzing the film text.
