Abstract
Wong Kar-wai is one of the most talented and stylistically distinctive directors in contemporary cinema, whose works have exerted a
profound influence on the creations of many emerging directors. His masterpiece In the Mood for Love was re-released in 2025, 25 years after
its initial premiere. The director incorporated new scenes and shots into the re-released version, endowing the work with a fresh outlook. This
paper briefly analyzes the narrative features of the 2025 release of In the Mood for Love from three perspectives: the presentation of human
nature in details, the upholding of secrets in mundane life, and the supplementation of hidden plotlines. As a masterpiece centered on secrets,
the film allows audiences to witness the unfolding of secrets and the enduring nature of human beings through the poetic imagery crafted by
Director Wong Kar-wai.
