Acute stress mobilizes resources for immediate challenges via physiological changes like elevated heart rate, aiding short-term adaptation but risking harm if excessive. Stress resilience mitigates intensity and duration of acute psychological stress.
This study used a modified Trier Social Stress Test (TSST), measuring emotional experience and heart rate, while controlling gender, age, and
education. Results showed stress resilience significantly negatively predicts acute stress responses; higher resilience yields less intense reactions and smaller heart rate changes, reflecting better physiological regulation.
Findings highlight enhancing stress resilience to moderate acute stress effects and promote well-being in high-stress environments.
