Research on the Application of Intelligent Technologies in Safety Management of Phosphate Mines

Jinping Hu

Abstract

China is endowed with abundant phosphate resources, which serve as fundamental raw materials critical to both industrial manufacturing and agricultural productivity. In recent years, the deepening of mining operations and the continuous expansion of mine scale have significantly heightened the complexity of safety management in phosphate mines. Severe safety incidentsincluding geological hazards, leakage of toxic and hazardous gases, and dust explosionspose acute threats to the occupational safety of underground personnel and constitute
a major constraint on the sustainable development of China's phosphate industry. The systematic integration of intelligent technologies across
the entire safety management lifecycle of phosphate mines represents a strategic imperative for overcoming the limitations of conventional
safety practices and enhancing the robustness and responsiveness of safety assurance systems. This paper identifies key safety challenges
inherent to modern phosphate mining operations and critically examines the application of representative intelligent technologiesincluding
IoT-based real-time monitoring, AI-driven risk prediction, digital twin modeling, and autonomous emergency response systemsin safety
management contexts. The findings aim to inform evidence-based tactics formulation and technological deployment toward safe, efficient, and
sustainable development of China's phosphate resources.
