Theoretical Research on the Living Inheritance and Industrial Development of Intangible Cultural Heritage Sports along the Grand Canal

Xingfen Zhou

Abstract

The Grand Canal corridor has accumulated a rich variety of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) in sports, yet with the acceleration of
modernization, these items broadly face challenges such as inheritance discontinuity and shrinking survival space. Taking Grand Canal sports
ICH as the research object, this paper draws on cultural ecology, industrial economics, and ICH protection theory to examine its historical
context and cultural characteristics, explore the theoretical framework and practical mechanisms of living inheritance, analyze the internal
logic and realistic obstacles of industrial development, and propose recommendations for coordinated advancement of both. The study argues
that living inheritance is a dynamic cultural practice embedded in social life, while industrialization serves as an effective means of providing
sustainable economic support for inheritance within reasonable boundaries. The two are not opposed; the key lies in establishing effective coordination mechanisms to achieve bidirectional conversion between cultural and economic value.
