The Principle of Oil and Gas Sedimentology and Its Application in Exploration and Development
Abstract
With the increasing global demand for energy and the intensification of exploration and development of oil and gas resources, sedimentology, as a discipline to study the formation, evolution and distribution of sediments on the earths surface, is of great significance to oil
and gas exploration and development. Sedimentology can not only reveal the material source, transport, deposition and diagenesis of sedimentary basin materials, but also has important theoretical significance for understanding the generation, accumulation and preservation of oil and
gas. Therefore, in-depth study of the basic principles and application methods of oil and gas sedimentology is helpful to improve the success
rate of oil and gas exploration and optimize the development strategy. In this context, this paper summarizes the basic principles of petroleum
sedimentology, analyzes the application progress of petroleum sedimentology in exploration and development, and probes into the new technologies and methods of petroleum sedimentology in exploration and development for reference only.
