Financial Digital Transformation under Business-Finance Integration: Problems and Countermeasures at IKEA China

Jin Xu

Abstract

In the big-data era, firms face pressures that push them to change how they operate and to make the most of every cost. IKEA (China)
Investment Co., Ltd. (henceforth IKEA) runs a distinctive retail model, yet its cost control and the link between finance and operations still
fall short. This paper takes IKEA as a case to study the problems in its financial digital transformation under business-finance integration and
suggests remedies. We identify four obstacles: weak coordination between business and finance data, slow adoption of digital tools, rigid management processes, and a gap between technology and execution that holds back sustainable innovation. In response we propose an integrated
data platform, greater digital investment, organizational restructuring, and a sustainable innovation ecosystem. The case offers lessons for
other retailers on the same path.
