Development Status and Countermeasures of Small and Medium-sized Logistics Enterprises in the Digital Economy Era

Wenliang Jian, Cuiling Qiu

Abstract

The digital economy is profoundly reshaping the competitive landscape of the logistics industry. As a foundational sector of the
national economy, the logistics industrys digital transformation has become an irreversible trend. However, while leading enterprises are ac
celerating the construction of digital barriers, the vast number of small and medium-sized logistics enterprises (SMLEs) with limited resources
face severe survival pressures. This paper focuses on SMLEs in the digital economy era, systematically reviewing their current development
status and deeply analyzing their multiple predicaments regarding capital, talent, technology, management, and external competition. The
study finds that SMLEs generally remain at the preliminary stage of digitalization characterized by "passive adaptation and superficial appli
cation." To address these issues, this paper proposes countermeasures from two dimensions: enterprise self-improvement and external support.
At the enterprise level, SMLEs should pursue a pragmatic transformation path of "lightweight operations, differentiation, and cooperation."At
the government and industry levels, there should be provision of inclusive digital infrastructure, increased fiscal, tax, and financial support, en
hanced talent training, and standardized market order. This paper aims to provide references for SMLEs to overcome difficulties and achieve
sustainable development.
