Treating Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy from the Perspective of Xue Bi
Abstract
impediment) is a vascular disease occurring at the extremities, often caused by paroxysmal spasms of the arteries in the distal limbs, resulting
in the skin turning pale due to ischemia or cyanotic from localized hypoxia; it is considered a bi syndrome caused by pathogenic factors entering the blood. TCM's unique understanding of limb numbness, pain, and sensory abnormalities provides a new perspective for identifying and
treating DPN. This paper explores the high degree of concordance between xuebi and DPN in terms of the core pathogenesis and microscopic
pathological changes, and systematically reviews TCM treatment principles and methods based on 'benefiting qi, activating blood, unblocking the meridians, and dispelling impediments.' It highlights therapeutic approaches with significant efficacy for DPN symptoms, emphasizes
the importance of stage-specific treatment and holistic regulation, and aims to provide theoretical support and broaden the perspective for the
clinical integration of Chinese and Western medicine in the treatment of DPNP.
