Clinical Application Value of Two-dimensional Ultrasound Combined with SWE in the Diagnosis of Sarcopenia of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Abstract


Objective: To investigate the diagnostic efficacy of 2D ultrasound combined with shear-wave elastography (SWE) in patients
with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease sarcopenia. Method: Thirty patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease with decreased
muscle strength and 40 patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease without decreased muscle strength admitted to the hospital from
August 2023 to April 2024 were selected as the study objects, the former as the observation group and the latter as the control group. All
patients were examined by SWE combined with 2D ultrasound, and the clinical value of SWE combined with ultrasound in the diagnosis of
chronic obstructive pulmonary disease sarcopenia was analyzed by comparing the MRI results. Result: In 30 patients, the diagnostic rate of
SWE combined with 2D ultrasound was 93.33%, slightly lower than that of MRI, with no statistical significance (P > 0.05). The mean value
of muscle thickness, feathery Angle, muscle bundle length and gastrocnemius Young modulus under contraction in observation group were
lower than those in control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The combination of two-dimensional ultrasound and SWE has demonstrated high
diagnostic efficacy in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease-associated sarcopenia.
