The Application of Cardiac and Pulmonary Ultrasound in the Diagnosis of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome
Abstract
and respiratory failure, with a complex pathophysiology. Early diagnosis is crucial for effective management and improved patient outcomes.
Traditional diagnostic methods, such as chest X-rays and CT scans, have limitations in terms of sensitivity, cost, and accessibility. Cardiac and
pulmonary ultrasound (CPUS) has emerged as an effective, non-invasive tool that can assist in diagnosing ARDS by providing real-time, dynamic assessment of the lungs and heart. This paper reviews the role of CPUS in the diagnosis of ARDS, focusing on its diagnostic accuracy,
advantages, and challenges. Additionally, it highlights the potential for CPUS to improve early detection and facilitate personalized treatment
strategies in critically ill patients.
