An Empirical Study on the Physical and Mental Health of Middle-aged and Elderly People in the Sport of Petanque

Zhoubao Wei

Abstract

Middle-aged and elderly populations are increasingly facing challenges such as age-related physiological decline, accumulated psychological stress, and imbalances between physical activity and social needs. The role of sports interventions in promoting geographical health
has gained growing attention. This study conducts an empirical investigation into the current physical and mental health status of older adults
and the effectiveness of petanque (a French sport) as an intervention. The research aims to demonstrate that petanque can specifically improve
body composition and physiological functions in this demographic, thereby providing a practical exercise intervention plan for maintaining
their physical and mental well-being.
