Clinical Value of Combined OCT and Visual-Field Evaluation in Comprehensive Ophthalmologic Diagnosis and Management

Abstract


Objective: To investigate the clinical value of combined optical coherence tomography (OCT) and visual-field examination in
comprehensive ophthalmologic assessment. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 96 patients treated between January 2022
and January 2024. According to the evaluation method, patients were assigned to a combined-evaluation group or a routine-evaluation
group, with 48 cases in each. Detection of abnormalities, consistency of disease staging, and diagnostic reference value were compared.
Results: Compared with routine evaluation, the combined approach showed greater stability in identifying optic nerve structural abnormalities, detecting early functional impairment, and achieving consistent clinical staging, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05).
Conclusion: Combined OCT and visual-field evaluation provides complementary structural and functional information, enhances diagnostic accuracy, and improves clinical decision-making in comprehensive ophthalmology.
