Values Education Across the Curriculum in Foreign Language Courses Under the New Humanities and Social Sciences: A Case Study of English Public Speaking and Debate Teaching

Yan Wen

Abstract

Against the backdrop of the New Humanities and Social Sciences initiative, foreign language courses in universities are tasked with
fostering virtue through education and projecting China's voice to the world. English Public Speaking and Debate, as a core course designed
to build English majors' linguistic proficiency, acts as an important platform for advancing students' intercultural communication competence.
Guided by the OBE philosophy, this paper takes the course as a case to explore how to construct an outcome-oriented, student-centered classroom that integrates values education with practical skill training, alongside establishing measurable values learning outcomes. It seeks to
advance continuous improvement of foreign language teachers and offer case support for values education across the curriculum of English
programs and the cultivation of foreign language talents for the new era.
