Study on Application of OBE Theory in College English Teaching

Wei Liu

Abstract

The OBE (Outcome-Based Education) theory emphasizes outcome-oriented education, focusing on the cultivation and practical application of students abilities. For college English teaching, the core concept of OBE theory requires teachers to clarify teaching objectives
and develop corresponding teaching content and assessment systems to ensure that students achieve the expected learning outcomes. Guided
by OBE theory, college English teaching requires not only that students master a certain vocabulary and grammar knowledge but also that
schools cultivate students comprehensive English abilities, enabling them to effectively use English in real life. In addition, OBE theory also
emphasizes the importance of feedback mechanisms, advocating that teachers adjust teaching strategies in a timely manner through regular assessment and feedback, while also requiring students to understand their learning progress and deficiencies, ultimately aiming for continuous
improvement.
