The professionalism of kindergarten teachers is the key to improving the quality of kindergarten education. Chinas Professional
Standards for Kindergarten Teachers (PSKT) specifies the professionalism required of kindergarten teachers in three dimensions: professional
philosophy and ethics, professional knowledge, and professional competence. This study used a mixed research method to investigate the professionalism of kindergarten teachers in Jiangsu, China, from the three dimensions established in the PSKT. Through a questionnaire survey of
kindergarten teachers (n = 395) and interviews with teachers and directors (n = 10), the study found that the professionalism of kindergarten
teachers is generally well developed, but some problems still exist. Based on the findings, this study analyzes the factors affecting the professional development of kindergarten teachers and makes targeted educational recommendations for improving teachers professionalism.
