An Investigation on Teaching Reading to Promote Writing in College English under the Background of Core Competence

Abstract


As the education sector increasingly emphasizes the cultivation of students core competencies, college English teaching faces new
challenges and opportunities. The reading-to-writing model, by organically integrating reading and writing, provides an effective approach
to enhancing students overall English proficiency and achieving the goal of core competency development. This paper delves into the new
requirements for college English teaching under the backdrop of core competencies, elaborates on the value of the reading-to-writing model,
analyzes current teaching practices and issues, and proposes targeted teaching strategies to promote reform in college English teaching and
support students comprehensive development.
