Bacuo , Chengzi Chen

Abstract

On March 2, 2023, the Education Department of the Tibet Autonomous Region hosted the Region-wide Vocational Education
Conference in Lhasa in which it was emphasized that vocational education is an important part of the national education system and human
resource development, shouldering the responsibility of cultivating diversified talents, passing on technical skills, and promoting employment
and entrepreneurship. Therefore, by constructing the Cobb Douglas production function and the least squares regression model, the contribution rate of vocational education to economic growth in Tibet is measured by using the data of the education level of employees, the number
of employed people at the end of the year, the capital stock, and the nominal GDP in Tibet from 2012 to 2021. The results of the study show
that the per capita years of education of vocational education in Tibet is low; the labor force elasticity coefficient is lower than the national
average; and the contribution of vocational education to economic growth is significant. Based on the empirical results, the study proposes to
increase the investment in education and policy support, enhance publicity and cultivate professionals, strengthen the construction of teachers
and improve the quality of teaching, deepen the cooperation between schools and enterprises, and promote the integration of industry and education, etc. The study will provide theoretical support and practical guidance for the reform and development of vocational education in Tibet,
so as to further realize the key role of vocational education in the promotion of Tibets economic growth.
