Research on the Application of the BOPPPS Model Based on OBE Concept in Online Teaching of University Physical Education General Courses

Lei Liu

Abstract

With the continuous advancement of social technology, the education sector has established profound connections with network
media, ushering in an era of educational informatization. In response to major policy initiatives, educational institutions nationwide have
progressively implemented online instruction. The Outcome-Based Education (OBE)-oriented BOPPPS instructional model (Bridge-In,
Objective, Pre-assessment, Participatory Learning, Post-assessment, Summary), having flourished in North America for decades, has now
garnered substantial research validation regarding its integration with online courses. Under the research paradigm of educational informatization reform, the introduction of BOPPPS pedagogy into collegiate online physical education public courses demonstrates significant potential
for advancing educational transformation. This study investigates the application of BOPPPS model in online physical education instruction
at the tertiary level, aiming to optimize instructional paradigms and enhance pedagogical outcomes. The research specifically examines the
models impact on multidimensional learning outcomes (including learning satisfaction, self-directed learning capacity, exercise attitude, skill
proficiency, and physical fitness indicators), while conducting comparative analysis between BOPPPS-based and traditional online physical
education modalities.
