Using Mobile Devices in English Language Teaching by Chinese EFL Teachers

Zengfang Lin*, Ain Nadzimah Abdullah, Arshad Abdul Samad

Abstract

This study investigates the use of mobile devices in English teaching by Chinese EFL teachers by exploring their preferences for mobile functions and applications and mobile device use behaviors across the language teaching. Class observations and interviews were conducted to collect data. The findings show that throughout teaching language skills and in different teaching phases, various mobile functions and apps were widely adopted by EFL teachers. They use these tools to reinforce language skills, improve proficiency, and deliver tailored instruction. The study highlights the potential of mobile devices in creating a more interactive and effective English language education environment.
