Research on the Occupational Stress of Young Faculty Members in Higher Education Institutions

Fangyan Ma, Ju Jiang

Abstract

Young faculty members in higher education institutions, as a crucial reserve force of talents for higher education, play a pivotal role
in teaching and scientific research activities. However, they are confronted with the dual pressures from educational reform and scientific research. Their professional qualities are directly associated with the quality of education, and high - quality teaching is the core element for cultivating high - quality professional talents. This paper conducts an in - depth analysis of the occupational stress of young faculty members in
higher education institutions from four dimensions: academic research, teaching workload, professional title promotion, and life burden, sorts
out the sources of stress, and explores corresponding countermeasures. It is argued that the stress can be effectively alleviated by establishing
a scientific and reasonable assessment and evaluation system, optimizing the teaching management mode, improving the salary and welfare
level, providing targeted promotion training, and establishing a long - term psychological counseling mechanism.
