A Comprehensive Review on Demotivation in Language Learning

Abstract


This review paper explores demotivation in educational psychology, especially in language learning. Demotivation, which can reduce or eliminate learning motivation, is influenced by internal and external factors. The paper examines definitions, theories, and previous
studies on demotivation globally and in China. It highlights the importance of understanding demotivation for educators and researchers to
enhance learning outcomes. The review suggests considering both learner and contextual variables in addressing demotivation.
