Research on the Development Status and Countermeasures of the Sports Industry in the Guangdong-Hong KongMacao Greater Bay Area

Hailong Li

Abstract

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is one of the most economically dynamic regions globally, with the sports
industry increasingly becoming a significant driver of its economic growth. This study finds noticeable disparities in the scale of the sports
industry across the GBA cities, forming a gradient distribution decreasing from central cities to peripheral areas, characterized by inadequate
regional collaboration and structural imbalances. Additionally, the research highlights issues such as inconsistent security standards for sports
events, insufficient funding for SMEs new media promotions, severe market monopolies, and slow digital transformation within sports enterprises. The study recommends establishing unified event security standards, providing financial subsidies, supporting SMEs in new media
marketing, creating regional resource-sharing platforms, and accelerating digital and intelligent transformation to foster high-quality sports
industry development.
