Cross-Cultural Adaptation in Guizhou Tour Guide Translation: A Hermeneutic Approach

Abstract


Tour guide translation plays a crucial role in presenting Guizhou's ethnic cultures and natural heritage to global tourists. However,
current tour guide translation methods often rely on literal translations and are mostly lack of multi-modal support, hindering effective crosscultural communication. This study applies Steiner's hermeneutic translation theory to develop culturally adaptive strategies for Guizhou's
tourism texts. Through case analyses of Fanjingshan, Huangguoshu, and Xijiang Miao Village, this study shows that translation strategies can
compensate the loss in cultural concepts, and that effective cross-cultural adaptation requires cultural compensation strategies and methods.
By using these culture-focused strategies, the study prioritizes hermeneutic depth through compensation. This study not only extends hermeneutics to the field of tourism translation but also provides practical solutions for enhancing Guizhou's global cultural outreach.
