The Current Situation and Challenges of Student Management from the Perspective of University Pedagogy

Xinyi Wang

Abstract

From the perspective of university pedagogy, student management in higher education should not be limited to administrative operations but should function as a critical mechanism for promoting students' holistic development and individualized growth. This paper explores
the fundamental connotation of student management based on pedagogical ideals, including educational objectives, functional positioning,
and the relationship between educational governance and student autonomy. It further analyzes the current state of student management in
universities, identifying trends such as the shift from "affair-oriented" to "development-oriented" systems, the integration of digital tools, and
the current levels of student satisfaction, participation, and sense of belonging. The paper also highlights major challenges, including outdated
management concepts, uneven resource allocation, insufficient refined management for diverse student needs, and limited application of educational technologies.
