An Analysis of Primary-School English Teachers' Current Use of the Digital Resources of the National Smart Education Platform for Primary and Secondary Schools

Hong Liu, Zhaoxiang Jiang*

Abstract

To investigate how the National Smart Education Platform for Primary and Secondary Schools (hereafter "the Platform") is
actually used in primary-school English teaching, this study conducted in-depth interviews with 31 front-line teachers. The results show
that teachers mainly apply Platform resources when preparing lessons; the Platform strongly supports them with phonetic demonstrations,
grammar explanations, vocabulary expansion, listening drills and oral simulations, thus making lesson preparation more refined and efficient. However, the dynamic adaptability of Platform resources during classroom instruction is insufficient, resulting in monotonous application scenarios and low frequency of use. The study concludes that the Platform already meets basic teaching needs and that teachers
possess fundamental operational competence, yet there is still considerable room for improvement; the integration of resources with classroom teaching needs to be further optimised.
