ICM-Based Analysis of Bellwether's Dual Cognitive Models

Shengjie Diao

Abstract

This study employs the Idealized Cognitive Model (ICM) to analyze Assistant Mayor Bellwether in Zootopia. Through linguistic
analysis of key scenes, it reveals how the character operates two opposing cognitive frameworks: the "Assistant ICM" and the "Villain ICM".
Tracing her cognitive transformation across pivotal narrative moments, the study finds that emotional accumulation and situational triggers
collectively recategorize predators from "authority symbols" into a "common enemy". This process illuminates how linguistic manipulation
constructs ideology and achieves narrative persuasion in villain characterization.
