A Dialogical Research on the Moral Education Views between Whitehead's thought and Pre-Qin Confucianism
Abstract
The dialogical research between Whiteheads thought and Confucianism has now become an important approach in inter-cultural
comparative philosophy. This approach of research can be further extended to the issue of moral education. By comparing Whitehead with the
two most important representatives of pre-Qin Confucianism, Confucius and Mencius, we can find their similarities in three aspects: 1. the
understanding of human being as the subject of moral education activities; 2. the characteristics of the process of moral education; 3. the goal
of moral education.A dialogical research on these aspects can provide inspirational reflections and constructive suggestions for contemporary
development of both Whiteheads thought and Confucianism on the philosophy of moral education.
