The Logic of Cultivating Thinking Qualities in Primary School English PBL under the Guidance of Confucius's Educational Philosophy of 'Integrating Learning and Thinking'

Ying Lai

Abstract

Confucius's concept of integrating learning and thinking is a core tenet of traditional Chinese educational philosophy, revealing the
laws of cognitive development through the maxim: "To learn without thinking is futile; to think without learning is perilous." Project-based
learning (PBL), as a key teaching model in primary school English teaching, is highly compatible with the cultivation of thinking qualities;
however, current practice suffers from problems such as overemphasis on language drills at the expense of cognitive construction. This study
aims to promote the modern and creative transformation of traditional educational philosophy, providing theoretical support and practical
pathways for the cultivation of thinking qualities in primary school English PBL.
