Innovative Pathways for Integrating Traditional Decorative Elements into Interior Design Teaching
Abstract
as potent vehicles for cultural expression and personalized creation within the field of interior design. However, current practice in interior
design teaching regarding the application of these traditional elements often suffer from misguided perceptions, outdated methodologies,
and a lack of contextual connection. This frequently results in superficial use, making it difficult to achieve a genuine fusion of tradition
and modernity. This paper, grounded in the fundamental objectives of interior design teaching, analyzes the cultural attributes inherent in
traditional decorative elements and their relevance to contemporary needs. It then proposes strategies across four key dimensionseducational philosophy, curriculum structure, teaching methodologies, and practical training basesaimed at better integrating traditional decorative elements into interior design teaching. The ultimate goal is to overcome existing barriers, cultivate outstanding interior designers
endowed with profound cultural literacy and creativity, foster the inheritance and development of Chinese traditional decorative culture,
and facilitate its modern transformation.
