Strategies and Practice for Integrating Cross-Cultural Education into Picture Book Artistic Design

Chen Yang

Abstract

In the era of global cultural integration, cross-cultural education serves as a pivotal pathway for fostering pluralistic cultural cognition, inclusive consciousness, and intercultural competency among the audience. Picture book artistic design uses visual language and popular
narrative methods as its core expression modalities, capable of effectively transcending linguistic barrier to transform abstract cultural connotations into sensorially accessible aesthetic experience. This study examines the integration logic of cross-cultural education and picture book
artistic design. Based on Hofstede's cultural dimensions theory, it briefly analyzes the existing problems in the cross-cultural design of picture
books. It then summarizes the primary strategies and implementation pathways for integrating cross-cultural education into picture book artistic design from three aspects: content construction, visual design, and practical implementation. The research indicates that effective crosscultural picture books need to establish a dynamic balance among cultural depth, artistic quality, and educational function, rather than onesidedly emphasizing any single aspect.
