Translation Practice Report on Excerpts from the Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence: A Functional Equivalence Perspective

The Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, adopted by UNESCO in 2021, is the world's first international framework document on AI ethical governance. This translation practice selects excerpts from this document as the object of study. The source text
contains approximately 22, 000 words, and the target text comprises about 36, 000 words. Grounded in Nida's functional equivalence theory,
this practice constructs a "terminological equivalencelogical equivalenceintentional equivalence" three-dimensional equivalence model
to systematically address the translation challenges posed by science and technology ethics texts. Case analyses demonstrate that this model
effectively balances terminological precision, logical clarity, and the conveyance of ethical intent. This study extends the application of functional equivalence theory to the field of science and technology ethics translation and provides strategic references for international organizations and policymakers.
