Applying AI-Supported Cross-Cultural Case Teaching in Judicial Police English Classes

Xuanran Chen

Abstract

In the realm of judicial police vocational education, English instruction is required to equip students for real-workplace communication with foreign individuals. This paper proposes a vocationally-oriented teaching model that incorporates domestic AI writing tools (such as
DeepSeek and Tongyi Qianwen) into cross-cultural case-based learning. Two categories of authentic cases are employed: incidents of crosscultural misunderstandings within judicial settings and "telling China's stories" cases that introduce Chinese rehabilitation and mediation practices in plain English. AI tools help simplify case texts, generate role-play dialogues, simulate foreign conversational partners, and offer immediate feedback. This paper shows a practical, low-technology, and transferable application of AI in vocationally-oriented foreign language
teaching. A four-week pilot study involving 30 students indicated a significant enhancement in cultural knowledge scores and a high level of
student engagement.
