Research on the Aesthetic Education Practice System Established by Local Universities

Jian He

Abstract

In the contemporary context, strengthening and improving aesthetic education in higher education institutions serves as a crucial
measure to fulfill the core mission of fostering virtue through education and cultivating well-rounded young individuals with comprehensive
development in moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor skills. Local universities bear the fundamental responsibility of serving their
regional communities and nurturing talents that meet local needs. Establishing an aesthetic education practice framework aligned with regional development and cultural characteristics represents the primary approach for these institutions to achieve educational objectives and enhance pedagogical effectiveness. This paper examines the overall landscape of aesthetic education development in China's local universities,
summarizes existing achievements in building aesthetic education systems, and conducts a comprehensive analysis of current challenges—including inadequate strategic planning, gaps in integrating three key educational components (classroom instruction, extracurricular activities,
and social engagement)—along with their underlying causes. It further proposes strategies to develop holistic aesthetic education frameworks
through professional practice, student organizations, and community engagement initiatives, aiming to provide actionable recommendations
for advancing aesthetic education reform and improving educational quality in local universities.
