Liying Lin*, Xin Lu

Abstract

In the context of complex and rapidly changing environments both domestically and internationally, cultivating talents with both
moral integrity and professional competence is undoubtedly the core mission of higher education and the primary goal of university classroom
construction. The college English curriculum, starting from a deep understanding of contemporary China, contains a wealth of ideological and
political education elements. Adhering to the CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) teaching philosophy, with a student-centered
approach, we delve deeply into the ideological and political educational resources within the textbooks. While teaching language and cultural
knowledge, the content of ideological and political education is skillfully integrated into various learning activities such as students independent learning and collaborative learning. Through such teaching methods, the critical thinking abilities of students are gradually enhanced,
helping them to truly understand and grasp the essence and characteristics of contemporary China.
